This is in regard to the article in Brace Beagling Today, March Issue, that running Combined Classes effective March 1st was approved. The following is the Combined Class Rule from the BAC Meeting Minutes submitted to AKC and they have agreed to implement.
Our License Trials are to be run business as usual. If there aren't enough entries for a class, you can combine, as we've done in the past.
If wanting to Run Combined Classes at License Trials and advertising your license trial will be run that way, your ad should be as follows:
The correct way to advertise if you are following the Combined Class Rule is
13" and 15" Females.....Date
13" and 15" Males.........Date
Or
Combined Females.....Date
Combined Males.............Date
The following is not in accordance with the Combined Class Rule and should follow the business as usual license trial
13" Females........Date
15" Females.......Date
Combined Males...... Date
The bottom line is for Combined Classes, it is all or nothing. The rule is for a two day trial only and only applies to brace beagling. If 40 dogs are entered and you advertised Combined that is the way it is to run. There's no changing back to 13" and 15" dogs.
I hope this clarifies the Combined Class Rule, per AKC Jim Odle and Mel Stewart.
