It is with a heavy heart that we received the news from Don and Jewelene's son, Bryan, that Don passed away late this morning, 11/4/2020 from Carthage, NC at the age of 76.
Don fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He beat it twice before and the latest chemo/radiation treatment may have killed the cancer; but caused heart problems and he couldn't stand or walk. Don and the family couldn't take anymore so God brought him home to end his pain and suffering.
Don was not only a fabulous man, but loving husband, father, grandfather and wonderful friend who loved his family unconditionally. He ran his beagles under the kennel name Deep RIver and was very successful. He was past president of the Mid Dixie, did his best to keep his home club Mid-State going. He also belonged to Cabarrus and Middle Georgia. Don always supported the clubs and federations and finished many field champions. He would marshal, beat brush, judge, watch paths, always willing to help in anyway he could to support our sport. He loved beagling and participating in every way he could for our sport. He gave so much to brace beagling and we have missed him since his health prevented him from attending trials. Ironically, today his dog that he is partners with Russ Arend, Deep River Sunshine won his class for his 3rd Win and Don knew before he was called home. Don definitely leaves a big void in our sport and we thank him for all he gave and may he continue to watch over us. Rest In Peace My Friend and You and Your Family are Forever in our Prayers. Please continue to watch over all of us as we continue to carry you in our hearts and live on through the many precious memories we have all shared with you.
Don had great wisdom and patience which he passed onto his children. You couldn't help but love, respect and admire what he brought to the table. He was a living example of love and forgiveness. He would tell us all
At the end of the day, let there be no excuses, no explanations, no regrets---
Till We Meet Again
Thank You so Much for Everything You Gave and Taught Each and Everyone of Us!
Bryan, Don's son wants to thank the beaglers for their friendship and all they did for and with Don. It meant the world to him and they appreciate the fellowship and friendship between us all and all it gave to his DAD. Don loved beagling and will definitely be remembered by us all.
