On Tuesday evening 4/30, Diane came home and found Sonny down on the floor very pale, clammy, weak, and unable to stand. She called an ambulance and he was transported to a local hospital. Tests revealed that he had an aneurysm that apparently was leaking and he was immediately flown to Chattanooga for surgery which concluded in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
During surgery it was found that he had 3 different aneurisms and his damaged aorta was removed and replaced in 5 different spots. The Surgeon said one aneurism was over 10 centimeters (about softball size) and most people would have never made it to the hospital when one is that large - so he was very blessed to still be with us. The next 24-48 hours will be very critical with possible additional bursting or the onset of pneumonia. If he can make it through that, then he should be ok. This condition will have to be monitored for the rest of his life. So please continue to keep him & Diane in your thoughts and prayers.
