Reminder On Measurements From AKC
June 11, 2018

Article by Lynette Coil

If your club records are up to date and you are a Field Trial Secretary, you may have already received the following from AKC.  They are sending out a reminder in regard to Official Measurements.  You can also bring this up on line on their AKC Web Site, but we are submitting this as a reminder, in the event you haven't received or heard the news.

To: All Clubs Licensed to Hold Beagle Field Trials
All Judges Approved to Judge Beagle Field Trials

Effective June 1, 2018 AKC will no longer accept AKC Official Measuring Cards at AKC licensed beagle field trials until further notice. It is the responsibility of the Field Trial Secretary to adhere to this ruling. Judges who fail to measure beagle hounds in accordance with Procedure 3-D of the AKC Beagle Field Trial Rules will jeopardize their judging privileges and risk having their privileges revoked. The discontinued use of measurement cards was necessitated as a result of the blatant disregard for accurately following Procedure 3-D when measuring beagle hounds on the part of some. We thank everyone for their cooperation going forward.

This change has been published in Hounds and Hunting and Better Beagling magazines and will be notated in the next printing of the beagle field trial rulebooks. Please continue to keep your email address current in our records so we may always notify you of any rule changes, reminders or announcements. Questions, comments and email address requests can be sent to

Thank you for your participation and involvement in AKC beagle trials.
