Help Needed for Midwestern
Feb. 02, 2018

Article by Lynette Coil

We are approaching that time of year of the Federations and the Midwestern will start on Friday, March 23rd with the Field Champions.  The 24th are the 13" Derbies and 25th are the 15" Derbies, which are a license trial this year.  The Event Number is 2018397201.  The 26th are the 13" and 15" Females and 27th will be the running of the 13" and 15" Male futurities.  The 2018 Judges are Al Janak, Gary Bushmire, Jennings Ford and Mickey Johnson.  The Midwestern is the first federation for the competition of the Purina Award.  Remember, this year is not only the first year for licensed derbies, but ABBA, thanks to individual contributors, will pay $500 to each Derby class winner when the official tallies are in.  The Purina Award Banquet, as always, will be held in October before the National Brace Trial.

Rolling Fork has worked very hard in getting their grounds ready and their restocking program.  We all know how costly this is to beagle clubs.  We hope everyone will come and support the Midwestern and help Rolling Fork to show their appreciation.  The Midwestern would appreciate your help in bringing items to the auction to help alleviate the hosts club's expenses.  Preston Greenwalt did a great job last year and he would like to do even better this year; but we need everyone's help and support in bringing items for the auction.

Miss Debbie is again planning a great banquet, as well as a "pirate" theme.  Anyone who has attended the banquet in the past, knows what a great job Debbie Slaughter does and we appreciate all her time and efforts.  Your help and support for the annual Midwestern Banquet would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully, Spring will have Sprung and we hope to see everyone at the Midwestern.  With the winter the way it has been, we hope we can make the Spring Events a great success in 2018 and know we can all use the break from Old Man Winter.  We hope to see everyone in March, appreciate your help and support, and safe travels!

Thanks,

Lynette Coil and Jim Garard
