AKC Ready for Licensed Federation Derby Trial Applications
Oct. 06, 2017

Article by Bob Kimber

The AKC programmers have just informed Doug Ljungren, AKC Vice President of Sports & Events, that the programming is now in place to accept applications for licensed Federation derby stakes.  At this point, the easiest thing to do is use the "Hound Application and Premium List" application form.  This is a downloadable form on the AKC web site.

I suggest you make it clear, somewhere on the front of the form, that you are applying for a Federation Derby Licensed Trial.  And remember, since this is a licensed trial, AKC must receive your application 90 days in advance of your trial.

If the licensed derby stake is held in conjunction with a Federation all-age licensed trial, there is no separate $35.00 application fee. The current event application form is a little tight to include all eight classes but they think it can be done.  If the Federation holds the derby licensed stake as a stand-alone licensed event, the $35.00 application fee applies.  In the near future, AKC will be getting an email out to all the clubs.
