Dave Kerr submitted the following on the Third Annual Derby Classic at Tri-County Beagle Club.
The 2011 Third Annual Derby Classic in Western Pennsylvania was held on Saturday, October 8th. A beautiful Fall day greeted the beaglers with sunny 75 degree weather. The Classic drew 15 die hard beaglers eager to run their 2012 derbies. Entries were taken by myself, Dave Kerr Jr. with the help of my buddy, Mark Speicher.
Those in attendance were advised they could run Solo, Brace or even pick their own bracemate. We also drew from the cage. We closed the entries at 10 Derbies entered. We photo-copied each hound entered with Sire and Dam by each hound. We had 3 Solo's and 4 Braces in competition. Some very good runs were observed by the gallery. We ran hounds fron 9:30 to 12:30, breaking for lunch. There was a good hot meal served by lovely Pam and Carol.
The following is a list of the Sires of the Derbies entered: FC Saltsprings Bronson, Tilley's Double Diamond, Nightstalk Tyra, Mark-A-Way Tanner, Surefoot Samuel, Nightstalk Dealus, L&M Easy Boy and Del Hart Super Blue. Congratulations also to Mark Speicher on being voted the best Derby Run at the Classic and to Wally Berkebile and Dan Collins for judging this great event. Mark's bitch was by Mark-A-Way Tanner X FC Tilley's Cream. Mark received a real large prestigious trophy for her win. There was without a doubt some future champions seen! Tri-County's grounds were in great shape and most important "excellent rabbits".
I would like to thank the cooks and everyone that attended and to those of you who couldn't make it, you missed a great day of fun, fellowship and good young hounds at work. Thanks to ABBA for sponsoring this fine event.
