In this photo Lynette Coil is making the call to Robert Lamberts, Jr. telling him that his hound won the trial.

Now That is the Way to Win a Field Trial
Nejan Farm Diamond Lil won the fifteen inch female class at Red Cedar this afternoon in a class of twenty-Four starters and twenty-three entries. (one hound had to be removed from competition because of a back problem). Diamond Lil is owned by Robert Lamberts, Jr. She was handled to her win by Lynette and Bob Coil.
Diamond Lil won her class the hard way. A rabbit was tally hoed on the edge of a spot that hasn’t completely grown over since Red Cedar’s grounds renovation several years ago. (the area also had top soil applied last fall) You might call this area Red Cedar’s graveyard. Lil picked her way through this area without a hitch. The fine hound work made her an easy selection for high hound in second series. During second series Lil eased her rabbit straight down a path and past a cross path again in fine fashion to win the brace. Handler, Lynette Coil had this to say concerning Lil’s performance. “She did a phenomenal job running the front this morning. She tracked the rabbit like she was painted to it.”
The win was the third for Diamond Lil. She won the Holland and Michiana licensed trials last summer. Bob Lamberts just put her back on the truck during the last week’s Port City trial. It proved out to be a very successful move on his part.
The weather was very hot and humid at Red Cedar today. The temperature rang in at a high of 89 degrees. The humidity was 95 per cent. The great supply of rabbits at Red Cedar turned an intolerable situation into a tolerable one. First series was finished by noon and the trial was over before two-thirty. Second series was held after the beaglers took an hour for lunch.
Second Series-15" Females:
1. Nejan Farm Diamond Lil (1st) vs. Grass Lake Gale (2nd).
2 Tru-Run Hazel (3rd) vs. Fuma's Fantastic (D-1)(4th).
3. Snell Sugar Run Sky Bo vs. Dead Creek Madison.
4. Twilight Hope (D-5 vs. Tilley's Mabel (D-3)
Fourth Series:
1. Grass Lake Gale vs. Tru-Run Hazel.
The Red Cedar Licensed Trial ends tomorrow when the thirteen inch bitches run. The high temperature and humidity is forcasted to be the same. However, there is a fifty per cent chance of rain.
