He is The Youngest Field Marshall Ever at Red Cedar

Nine year old Austin Schrum’s day started out great this morning. He was appointed head field marshal at Red Cedar for the fifteen inch male class. He gladly accepted the challenge. Bill Rustem was his helper.

As part of the job Austin was required to read off the hounds called back for measuring. After the hounds were measured he was required to read off the four braces of hounds called back for second series. He accomplished both of these tasks without any problems.

To top off his day he and his dad Mike Perry and their partner Basil Minor entered a dog named Omena Delahoya in the trial. Delahoya was called back for second series and Austin helped his father by picking up the hound after he finished running in second series.

Austin has been beagling with his grandfather since he was seven years old. He lives in Cass City, Michigan and will be entering the third grade this fall.

Take a look at the pictures. They pretty well tell the story of Austin’s day at Red Cedar.
