Wow, What a Record!

Field Champion P & G Black Diamond finished for his championship today at Red Cedar when he won the fifteen inch male class. Black Diamond finished with four wins. His wins came at St Joe Valley, Cherryville, Pee Dee River and today at Red Cedar. He is owned by Curtis Griffith and Bill Laney from West Virginia. He was handled by Bob and Lynette Coil.

Both Bob and Lynette were excited about Black Diamond’s win today. Altogether they ran him in 13 trials. Lynette told me that in the last six trials he was back in the high brace five times. Today he was back third in second series on the strength of a fine first series run from the rear. (His bracemate in first series, Cold Stream Calculator, was back high) when the high brace faltered Diamond was moved directly to the top when his brace was moved up. He had tracked the rabbit with near perfection down a path and around a corner to earn the honor of being moved into the top spot for third series.

Lynettte said this about Black Diamond. “He is a very consistent hound. He always gave me his best and he just keep on coming.” Lynette’s husband and handling partner Bob said, “He was in the high brace in five of the last six trials and was back third today and he won it. That’s pretty good.”

P & G Black Diamond was sired by Field Champion Mon Valley Dakota B and his dam is Field Champion Plains Moesha. He was this year’s derby but did not run in any of the federations.

Congratulations to P & G’s owners, Curtis Griffith and Bill Laney and to his handlers, Bob and Lynette Coil.
