Fourteen Entries in The Class

Kity Ridge Copey, owned by Russ Arend and Jimmy Ponder, won the thirteen inch male class today at Red Ceder on the opening day of their licensed trial. Copey, handled by Russ Arend, came back high hound in second series. He defeated his bracemate, Boulder Ridge Buddy and then held off Stone’s Mr. Carter in third series to pick up the win.

The win was the third of his career. The hound will be a futurity next year. Russ said he ran in three federations as a derby placing in all three. He placed third at the Southern, third at the Midwestern and fourth at the Mid-Dixie.

Kitty Ridge Copey’s sire is Field Champion Myer’s Creeper and his dam is Field Champion Kitty Ridge Roseanne.

Tom Belcher from Ohio and Greg Phillips from Canada judged the trial. Vern Burket, Tom Hawk and James Thwing were the field marshals for the day. The grounds were in fine shape and the rabbits came with ease.

It was hot and humid and a light rain hit the area just as third series was going down,

Handlers present besides Russ Arend were Bob and Lynette Coil.

The Red Ceder trial continues tomorrow when the fifteen inch males run.
