H. B. (Jack) Freeman Passed Away

FREEMAN, HOBERT BENTON - age 93, of Claxton, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010. H. B. (also known as Jack) was born in Tellico Plains on July 22, 1917. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Edgemoor Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, H. B. made his living building houses and was the owner of Edgemoor Builders in Claxton. H. B. enjoyed traveling and was a founding member of the Atomic Beagle Club where he enjoyed running and showing beagles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Drotha; son, Willis L. Freeman; grandson, Benny Freeman; parents, Robert Jackson and Hattie Evans Freeman; sister, Francis. He is survived by his son, Dillis Freeman and wife, Johnny; daughter, Phyllis Daley and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Mylina French and husband, Robert, Billy Von Powers and husband, Tim, Tammy Givens and husband, Ray, Fancy Daley, Dillis Freeman, Jr. and wife, Rebecca; Kris Daley and wife, Jackie, and Chloe Freeman; great-grandchildren, Tyler French, John Paul and Grace Powers, Braelee and Rayne Givens, Landon and Kamden Daley; brother, Athel Freeman; sisters, Rema, Robbie Jean, and Ella Mae, all of Tellico Plaines, as well as their spouses, and many nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends, from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010, with the funeral following at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Miller and Rev. Tom Byrge, officiating. Graveside service will be Sunday, August 1, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert French, Ray Givens, Tim Powers, Dillis Freeman, Jr., Kris Daley, Tyler French and John Paul Powers. Honorary pallbearers are Landon and Kamden Daley.
