Bubba Estes Dies

I ran across this in the Rock Hill (SC) Herald. I just talked with his son, Joe Dan, a few months back and Bubba was doing well at that time. I think most of your readers will be interested in the obituary.

Harold (Bubba) Estes
GAFFNEY --
Harold Walker (Bubba) Estes, 86, formerly of 183 Estes Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Peachtree Centre.
Born in Hickory Grove, he was the husband of Betty Sparks Estes and the son of the late Jeff Franklin Estes and Jessie Pridmore Estes. Mr. Estes was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School, former member of S.C. Forestry Assoc., a member of the Old Timers Hall of Fame Softball Assoc. and Beagling Hall of Fame. He was retired from the Gaffney Housing Authority and was also employed by Cherokee Feed Company. He was a field trial judge with the American Kennel Club and was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joe Dan Estes and wife, Lisa F., of Gaffney; two daughters, Betty Lou Painter and husband, Bobby, and Mary Coggins and husband, Richard, all of Gaffney; a brother, Madison Estes of Hickory Grove; two sisters, Jeanette Richardson and Sara Beamguard, both of Rock Hill; five grandchildren, Ashley Estes, Brandon Coggins, Will Coggins, Andy Painter and wife, Erica, and Matt Painter and wife, Tammy; four great-grandchildren, Judson Painter, Carson Painter, Morgan Painter and Madyson Painter. Mr. Estes was preceded in death by a half brother, J. W. Fowler.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Providence Baptist Church, with Dr. Ronnie Cox and Dr. Scott Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Peachtree Centre, 1434 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29340; or Providence Baptist Church, 822 Providence Rd., Gaffney, SC 29341; or Hospice Care of S.C., 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29340.
The family will be at the home of Bobby and Betty Lou Painter, 239 Estes Rd., Gaffney, SC 29341.
