Holds First Trial With St Joe Valley at New Club Grounds!
What a great Club! That is my explanation after spending last weekend in Knox, Indiana attending Northwestern Indiana and St. Joe Valley’s first licensed trial that was held at Northwestern Indiana’s new grounds. The trial was a huge success. Beaglers traveled from several states to take part in what promises to be the first of many successful trials that will be held at Northwestern Indiana.
After attending the trial Illinois beagler, Paul Sizemore said, “Northwestern Indiana is the premier beagle club in the United States,” Professional handler Lynette Coil stated in her write-up listed in our trial results “Northwestern can be real proud of all their accomplishments and hard work.”
The quest to establish a new club grounds began a few years ago. According to John E. Johnson the old club was about at the end of its road. “Our clubhouse and kennels were falling apart and our fences were rusting out so we took a hard look at the situation. We decided to list the grounds for sale. We sold the grounds to a man who raises homing pigeons and sells pigeon food world wide and started looking for new ground.”
The membership found forty acres near the town of Knox, Indiana. The new destination is located off Indiana Highway 35 directly 40 miles south of Interstate 94. They designed a new clubhouse, barn and kennel. The clubhouse has two bunk rooms that sleep twelve and two bedrooms for the judges. The kennels have room for ninety or more dogs. They divided the ground into two parcels. They dug a pond and had fences built. They invited St. Joe Valley to join them in a double-header for their first trial this spring and St Joe Valley accepted the offer. The highly successful result is what took place last weekend.
Congratulations Northwestern Indiana for all your hard work. Ventures like yours will insure the future of brace beagling.
In the next day or so I will place several pictures that I snapped while at Northwestern Indiana on the web site.
