June 1, 2010 International Beagle Federation

Dear Beagle Club Secretary – Subject: I.B.F. Survey

It would be greatly appreciated if you would read this letter and discuss it with your Beagle Club members. Afterwards, it would be very helpful if you would complete the enclosed I.B.F. Survey and return it via the enclosed, stamped, addressed envelope. Thank you in advance and please call me if you have any questions.

At the May 13, 2010 I.B.F. annual meeting the delegates voted in favor of conducting a survey by sending a mailing directly to the beagle clubs. The purpose of this survey is to determine the level of interest in the possibility of restructuring the International Beagle Federation. Currently the International is a Federation of Associations.

The International would like to consider changing to a Federation of Clubs and have a Member Club Open Derby Stake. This System would make it very simple. All derbies owned by regular members of IBF Member Clubs would automatically be eligible to run at the International. Associations can still have winnerstakes and club qualifying trials, if they wish, but they would no longer be related to the International. All regular members of IBF Member Clubs can just show up at the International and run as many of their own derbies as they wish without any Club qualifying and without being entered at a Winnerstake. Just make sure your club joins the International. Each club decides what constitutes “regular” membership in their club. The entry fee at the International will be the same as it currently is for derby post entries.

This system would eliminate clubs having to send per capita and qualifying results to the IBF. The Associations would also no longer send any money or results to the IBF and they would be free to do as they wish. Of course, in order to make such changes possible, the IBF must replace that revenue. It should be cheaper for everyone concerned to go with a new system where each member club pays an annual $60.00 Dues & Derby Fee. If approximately 60 clubs would join the IBF, and pay an annual $60.00 Dues & Derby Fee, everyone could enjoy a simplified system. Even if just 1 club member wanted to run derbies at the International this system would most likely save that person money if they paid the $60.00 fee for their club.

The IBF will be following up this survey with another letter and membership application to the clubs that indicate they want to join the IBF, if a minimum of 60 clubs indicate they are willing to support this system and directly join the IBF. So please respond as soon as possible. We would really appreciate getting a 100 percent response. Please consider joining and help keep the International going as long as possible. The sooner you respond the better.

Sincerely, Bob Kimber, I.B.F. Secretary
