This was sent to me by Jan Robertson, ABBA member and South Carolina beagler. It is important that beaglers be made aware of this change in AKC policy. Russ Arend

Subject: [FWD: Important Rule Change for all AKC Event Participants]
Russ, I spoke to Sue at AKC today and she confirmed that as of January 1, a dog will no longer be allowed to be entered using its litter number. The registration must be fully recorded by AKC in their system on the day of the event. The dog may be entered even if the owner has not received the papers as long as AKC has put it into their system. I didn't ask if the owner has to call AKC to confirm it is in their system if they want to run a dog and have not received the papers.
Hope you can pass this along and perhaps put something in ABBA magazine.
See you next week. Jan
