John Haley Obituary

John Haley, 67, of Smyrna, TN passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his home. John was a well liked beagler that had a lot of good friends. John was a member of the Middle Tennessee, Upper Cumberland, and Cherokee Beagle Clubs. He will be missed by many. His obituary follows:

JOHN KENDALL HALEY, age 67 of Smyrna passed peacefully Sunday, September 13, 2009 surrounded by his family after an extended battle with cancer. He was a native of Coffee County and later made a wonderful life with his family in Smyrna during the last 30 years. He was a loving family man dedicated to his wife and incredibly proud of his three sons. You could always count on his grandchildren to put the sparkle in his eyes. He was a generous friend, always wanting to lend a hand and go the extra mile. He loved a good joke and laughing with his friends. John loved brace beagling and developed many friendships through the Beagle Club. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years Pat Elrod Haley, sons John P. (Tammy) Haley of Murfreesboro, Jeremy S. (Vanessa) Haley of Smyrna, Marcus (Stacy) Haley of Murfreesboro, mother Elva Ferrell Rigney of Manchester, grandchildren Dalton Haley, Jayden Haley, Bryan Williams, Hailey Williams, sister Mary Teal of Manchester, brothers Wayne Haley of N.C., David Haley and Jerry Haley both of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his father Alonzo Haley.

John was retired from UPS and operated Haley’s Landscaping for the last 12 years. He was a member of Old Jefferson Church of Christ. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Smyrna,TN and on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. also at the Woodfin Funeral Chapel with Jessie Tenpenny officiating.
