The subject of this article appears in the month in which our nation is called to its knees in Thanksgiving.
As that day approaches many will be thinking of great things: liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, secure borders, prosperity, scientific and medical advances that help our lives and prolong our days. Others will think of more personal blessings; the pleasures of family life, the joys of occupations that satisfy, good friends and health and the like.
All of these things are good, and for them we should indeed be thankful often.
But Jesus reminds us of the importance of recognizing that the smallest elements of life are subject to the Providence of God. He taught us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread."
As Thanksgiving draws near and we prepare our hearts and minds for this important national celebration, let's think of the great things God has done for us--the greatest of them all being the Atonement of Christ purchased on the cross! But let's also consider such little things as the bread we eat every day and know that our lives are filled to the overflowing with evidences of the love and goodness of our God!!
