From The Pastor's Desk....September, 2006

For many of us the summer is a welcome break from the routine life follows through the rest of the year, but returning to the routine is also welcome!

Our God is an ordered Being. We see this in His handiwork from the predictable orbits of the planets to the regular cycles of life, in the steady march of the seasons and the rising and falling of the tides. In fact the sciences are possible only because of the orderliness of the universe created by our God.

There is also to be order in human lives, from the same-as-always arrangement of silverware in the drawer to the routine of going to bed at night and getting up in the morning. We are creatures of habit and disruptions in the nomalcies of life are disturbing and potentially destructive.

God intends that a part of the routine of life be worship: those times we gather as His Church on His Day to sing His praises. To fall out of this vital practice is to disrupt the schedule of godly living and remove ourselves from the declared will of God.

Fall is a time when we once again seek the refuge of routine. May a part of that routine for all of us who are able to be up and about that which draws us together on the morning of the Lord's Day!
