This message reaches your home just as the 2006 Lenten season begins.
Lent is a time in which we Christians are encouraged to examine the extend to which our faith in Jesus Christ permeates our lives; to thank God for the fullness that we see, and to work energetically for the lapses.
To that end I urge you to commit yourself to the study of one of the Gospels during this season. There you'll find the record of the teachings of the Lord that are intended to fill our minds. There you'll detect His values and character which we are called to emulate. There you'll find records of the depth of His faithfulness, the sweetness of His love, the richness of His righteousness and the horrors of the sacrifices He was required in order to accomplish our redemption.
As the death of Christ is the fountainhead of our salvation, so His faithfullness and character are the mirrow in which we are called to study our own.
This season will be useful to God and a blessing to us only as we set aside its time for its intended use.
May God use the weeks just ahead to fill our minds and hearts with the vision of what He calls us to be, and leads us along the paths of righteousness, that when the season ends with our celebration of the great victory of Christ, we'll have victories of our own to celebrate as well!
